Abstract—An angular correlation for the reaction 12C(14N, 6Li)20Ne*() populating the 8.78-MeV 6+ level in
20
Ne has been measured for zero-degree geometry at a primary 14N energy of 48 MeV. The results suggest a
20% upper limit on the contribution of compound-nucleus formation. The possible main direct mechanisms of
the reaction are discussed.
