Abstract—X-ray diffraction was used to determine the phase composition of cakes produced from powder
blends of nickel and titanium upon layer-by-layer laser sintering. This paper demonstrates the feasibility of con-
trolled production of biologically compatible titanium nickelide phases in the bulk of multilayer specimens by
varying parameters of laser treatment which offers a great potential to apply the method of selective laser sin-
tering in medicine. Additional annealing was found to promote the completeness of formation of intermetallic
phases.
